The sea is part of 70% of the planet, it drives the global systems that make the Earth a habitable place for human beings. Rain, drinking water, weather, climate, the coastline, and even the oxygen in the air we breathe are provided and regulated by the sea. Therefore, the preservation of the sea is essential for a sustainable future and also to reduce the danger of disappearance of marine species. Therefore, it is important to focus on limiting man-made damage from environmental pollution, as well as helping to restore ecosystems and conserving vulnerable species.
Currently, there is a constant deterioration of coastal waters due to pollution and overexploitation of marine species, caused by illegal fishing and ghost nets in various parts of the world. Around a third of commercial fish stocks are overexploited and many other species are threatened by unsustainable use of ocean resources. In addition, data provided by the UN ensures that between 5 and 12 million tons of plastic enter the ocean each year, which threatens the health of countless species.
Due to this negative result caused by years smong different parts of the world, it is essential to have an international collaboration to address issues related to overfishing and pollution of the sea.
For this reason, at Fernandez we help by contributing with our grain of sand in this hard work, from our position as processors and exporters of hydrobiological products, we comply with satisfying all commercial demands worldwide, respecting and valuing the richness of our Peruvian sea, as well as , contributing to the growth and development of our community, working with various certifications and regulations that allow us to fulfill a great function of sustainability towards our planet, among them we have BRC Food Certification, in charge of complying with global standards for good manufacturing practices and guaranteeing the best products with all quality protocols and legal terms. Additionally, HACCP Certification, in charge of providing international standards that define requirements to comply with an effective control of food safety.
Finally, it is essential to protect our oceans to avoid pollution in the seas, as well as to help regulate sustainable fishing throughout the world. Marine biodiversity is vital for the health of people and our planet. Marine Protected Areas must be managed effectively, as well as their resources, and regulations put in place to reduce overfishing, marine pollution and ocean acidification.
