Fernández began operations on April 25, 1993 in Catacaos, Piura, where the first plant that processes shellfish, giant squid, shrimp and squid was inaugurated. Fernández began as a family business that processed locally to provide raw material to exporters. Overtime, we got to learn and educate ourselves about the sector, we participated in fairs, forged alliances and went from being suppliers to exporters.
By 2016, Fernández was consolidated as a multinational company, exporting to different countries and, thanks to the high demand, we implemented two additional plants with which to work to meet what our customers required. Because of this, by 2020, we had already reached more than ten countries on five continents and expanded our processes to four plants in different cities of Piura.
2021 was a year of great growth and success for us. Years before, we had been working on a new goal: to open our own processing plant at our headquarters. That was achieved last year, our plant has all the certifications and complies with international quality standards, in this way we have more control over the processes of our products and we can adapt to the requirements and specifications of each of our customers.
Currently, we have administrative offices in Peru and Chile, and all our processes, manufacturing and products continue to go out to the world from Piura. Fernández is a company that is proud to work with artisanal fishermen, generate jobs and help the growth of the region Piura and, especially, the city of Catacaos. In addition, we are committed to the sustainability of marine resources and we work with people and companies that have the same vision of conservation and care of our sea.
Throughout these 29 years, we have fulfilled goals and dreams that we could not have imagined when we first opened, all thanks to the riches of our sea, to each of our employees and, of course, to the excellent work done by the local artisanal fishermen.
Fernández is more than an exporter of Peruvian hydrobiological resources, we are a family dedicated to bringing the best of the Peruvian sea to the world.
